Our work combines elements of several engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Mat. Sci. & Business); we use many technologies and materials to turn physical parameters (e.g. pressure, temperature, acceleration, position, speed, current, humidity, etc.) into analog or digital electrical signals which our customers use to control important systems. We seek out mission-critical applications where our devices must work or else there are consequences for safety, emissions, or violation of a regulation.\n\nSensata engineers are exposed to the full product cycle. Our engineers get a lot of responsibility very quickly, but experienced colleagues are always willing to provide needed guidance. The decisions and actions of our entry level engineers have a direct and immediate impact on our products and our customers.
Job responsibilities include:
Full ownership of product design and development.
Technology selection, detail design, prototyping.
Development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch.
Continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
Frequent interaction with customers and internal management.
Producing and maintaining drawings and specifications.
Collaboration with internal colleagues, and suppliers.
Meeting and exceeding customer requirements and expectations on schedule and in budget.
Learning about in-house and supplier manufacturing technologies.
Learning about customer systems where our parts are used.Job requirements:
BS, MEng, or MS in Mechanical Engineering
Ability to deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate and influence effectively, at all levels, inside and outside the organization, and around the world.
Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles in all areas, and ability to apply principles flexibly in unfamiliar situations.
Creativity and innovation; persistence and drive to solve challenging problems and overcome obstacles.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions & present in a meaningful way
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and thorough, with a keen attention to detailNecessary skills:
Fluent in English
Extensive knowledge of Materials, Mechanics, Heat Transfer. Basic knowledge of DC Circuits.
Proficient in 3D Modeling, preferably Solidworks. Experience with finite element analysis is a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint). Microsoft project is a plus.
Ability to plan and execute Design of Experiments, and discover meaningful data
Problem solving skills, ability to drive to a root cause analysis
Develop tests to represent and meet customer specifications
Ability to interpret and create 2D prints. Knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
Familiarity with various manufacturing methods (molding, welding, soldering, adhesives, machining, stamping)
Familiarity with process control and statistics
