Nurse Direct has a part-time position available for an experienced RN. This position is scheduled for 20 hours/week on an evening shift basis.
Appleton is the primary location of Nurse Direct but there are also two satellite locations including Oshkosh and Stevens Point.
Performs professional nursing under the direction of the Director and Manager of NurseDirect. Provides telephone triage to callers in accordance with NurseDirect policies and procedures and CECC software protocols. Screens triage calls via the telephone and verbally demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and intervention according to urgency and client needs utilizing the NurseDirect software program for triage. Promotes the NurseDirect philosophy of wellness, serves as a resource person, educator and patient advocate. Also responsible for marketing the hospitals, physician and affiliated services to potential clients through the telephone inquiries/WEB and other community resources via class registrations, physician referrals, Disease Management programs, 4DRSTAT processes, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Applies all phases of the nursing process; i.e. assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation when triaging callers. Completes the NurseDirect CECC assessment documentation fields accurately/completely for each call. Updates all demographic/clinical information for each call.
Identifies life-threatening emergencies, recommends appropriate interventions, including facilitation of 911-EMS ambulance transportation.
Demonstrates the utilization and consistent application of the protocols/guidelines in the NurseDirect CECC software during a phone conversation to complete a nursing diagnosis and plan of care for caller/patient.
Demonstrates the utilization and consistent application of the protocols/guidelines in CECC during a phone conversation to complete a nursing diagnosis and plan of care for caller/patient. Documents the call in the software according to established policy.
Demonstrates effective verbal communication by recognizing common barriers to communication including language, hearing loss, speech problems, memory loss or disorientation, and uses this information to satisfactorily complete the call to everyone’s satisfaction
Participates in the departmental and/or facility QA activities, completing the required forms within the set time line during scheduled hours when the phone is not busy.
Counsels and teaches patients and/or callers according to established protocols in the NurseDirect CECC software for preventative health measures and other aspects of self-care for acute and chronic medical conditions. Documents all.
Properly and with speed and accuracy processes 4DRSTAT calls, entering all information into CECC, paging the correct MD on call, checks bed status and pages according to standards. Collects appropriate clinical information for the hospital bed coordinator.
Promotes the Affinity Promise with every customer and peer interaction. Places the customer at the center of all the work NurseDirect does.
Demonstrates required skills through successful completion of the NurseDirect competency-based criteria.
Qualifications: Minimum Education Required :
Must be a RN graduate of an accredited school of nursing, currently licensed in the State of Wisconsin. Must have 3-5 years of recent medical surgical nursing, critical/emergency care, pediatric/OB or ambulatory care nursing experience.
Minimum Related Years of Experience ( per minimum education ) Required:
Possess the skills needed to verbally triage crisis and non-crisis/crisis call situations, appropriately viewing on the computer screen the NurseDirect protocol software program during each call and documenting clear notes in the software in real time.
Requires strong nursing assessment and decision-making skills.
Must be able to speak clearly and have acute hearing via the phone. Is able to communicate complex medical/health information in user-friendly terms. Is an excellent and empathetic listener, asks open-ended questions for clear and concise communication. Job: Staff Registered Nurses
