As a result of a growing, diverse client base, Gensler Atlanta is seeking a Construction Project Manager (8-12 years of experience) with a background in Retail. At Gensler, you will join a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovation, problem solving and design excellence.

Qualifications :

  • Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects with building renovation within mall environments and high street locations.

  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle: estimating, bidding, project kick-off, weekly construction coordination, punch list, turnover, opening, and project close-out.

  • Experience leading, managing and mentoring multiple project teams, including the ability to create and communicate clear and attainable project objectives and requirements.

  • Assist /lead coordination with local tenant coordinators and municipalities in order to problem solve and effectively keep construction progressing.

  • Experience in creating and analyzing project schedules.

  • Possess a working knowledge of construction terminology, as necessary for taking meeting minutes at project meetings with client, consultants and project team.

  • Have knowledge and experience with obtaining, verifying and maintaining project records, including pay applications, change proposals and change orders from contractor while working with project teams.

  • Demonstrate organizational capabilities and be adept at maintaining complete and thorough project documentation including RFIs, Submittals, Contracts, Change Orders, Project Correspondence, Schedules for Payment, Drawings and all other related contract documentation.

  • Have practical experience with confirming: inspections, certificates, punch list items, final lien releases, retainage releases and that final payments have been received and completed.

  • Be familiar with industry related contracts and scheduling, as well as materials, methods and processes of construction.

  • Experience in bidding projects to multiple General Contractors and specialty trades.

  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.

  • Ability to prioritize, make good decisions, use experience and education in the field when encountering variations from the construction plans or assumed existing conditions.

  • Ability to knowledgeably communicate with Client, General Contractors, Subs, material suppliers, equipment vendors and service vendors.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% of travel time.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Project Management or related field from an accredited school.

  • 8-10 years of experience as a project manager on a range of retail construction projects.

  • Knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.

  • Ability to work independently, yet have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the team.

  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility on retail projects.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
