The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) will provide leadership and direction through management of the PMO function and drive standardized project management methodologies, governances, methods, and tools. He or she will evaluate project feasibility, establish priorities, oversee projects, monitor progress, improve project status transparency, and evaluate project status and resource utilization.
The main purpose of this important Leadership Role is to Optimize Work and Resources so that all IT efforts are Delivered On-time, On-Budget, and to Meet or Exceed the Expected Value Outcomes of the initiative. Successful Leader will have a demonstrated Business acumen and proven track record of delivering and leading complex Technology efforts with a practical and scalable approach to Risk and Governance oversights.
Drive mission, vision and goals of Corporate IT PMO
Communicate with top management of business units and corporate IT,
Provide leadership and direction through management of the PMO function and drive standardized project management methodologies, governances, methods, and tools.
Oversee IT Governance, Demand Management and IT Financial Management.
Establish analytics, reporting and IT process improvement.
Ensure successful project delivery across the IT organization based on scope, schedule, and budget;
Proactively oversee and QA delivery of work, providing insights, recommendations, and targeted remediation actions to address delivery issues
Facilitate and control the effective allocation of resources to the right work at the right time
Manage and maintain program / project management skills within the organization to meet current and future delivery needs
Drive escalation and resolution of critical delivery issues across the entire IT portfolio, including Resource Management and Program/Project Cross Stream Dependencies
Own and manage resource skills repository for planning, allocation, and tracking of all work efforts across IT.
Provide data summarizing delivery of benefits across the IT Portfolio.
Provide analysis and implications for long term resource planning to the Investment Planning Function.
Managing and maintaining the IT Delivery Dashboard and perform trend analysis across the delivery portfolio
Establish and manage the PPM platform for managing all work
Collaborate and influence stakeholders across functions and at all levels of the organization to deliver successful outcomes
Contribute to IT strategic direction by providing organizational capacity insights and lead continuous improvement of IT's delivery capability
Delivery of complex change programs, and influence and engage IT leadership to position the IT PMO as a key enabling function for long term IT delivery success.
Advise on mechanisms for strategic planning and business value realization.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Advanced degree in a relevant technical area (Information Systems/Technology Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Project Management (PMP), Relevant Business Area such as Accounting) or equivalent experience.
Minimum Work Experience
15+ years of software/program management experience.
Solid knowledge in ALL areas of project (analysis, ROI, justification of project, funding, budgeting, project planning, matrix resource management, risk analysis and mitigation, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to represent IT to the executive level.
Experience building collaborative relationships with outside vendors and consultants.
Experience managing a departmental budget.
Experience building and running a successful PMO using current industry best practice for Portfolio, Program & Project Management Offices.
Experience in agile, lean and other software development methodologies.
Experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
Hands on experience leading delivery of IT enabled Transformation Programs, including ERP deployment, application Development, and Infrastructure (hands-on knowledge of databases and middleware).
Familiarity with current versions of Enterprise Project Management platforms and workflow.
Successful track record of managing and integrating with offshore delivery teams.
Excellent interpersonal, team leadership and communication skills.
Relevant experience across different industries and disciplines (Development/Infra/EA) is a plus
