PAE is currently seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic to support an exciting new mission in support of the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Operations. The Refrigeration Mechanic: • Accomplishes refrigeration installation and maintenance tasks on maintenance and construction projects in Antarctica. • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration and cooling equipment in accordance with the preventive maintenance program. This includes installation and start up of refrigeration and cooling equipment utilizing special tools and equipment. • Advises the Preventive Maintenance Foreman on job progress and material requirements. • Keeps refrigeration inventory up to date and orders replacement parts as needed. • Acts as EPA required “Refrigerant Manager” for CFC tracking, leak detection and reporting functions. • Works with all electrical components from disconnect throughout equipment. • Accomplishes various projects utilizing design drawings, diagrams, and specifications. • Submit reports as required by supervisor. • Must be able to lift the safety regulation maximum. • May be required to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions. • Supports the achievement of metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly affected by this position’s work activities. • Complies with all Environmental Safety and Health and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provides documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. • Maintains workplace program and ensures safety is the highest priority in the work place. • Performs other duties as required.


• High school graduate or GED is required. • Refrigeration License required. • CFC Certificate preferred. • Minimum 4 years experience required in refrigeration mechanic work, including installation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment. • Ability to read design drawings and diagrams is preferred. • Previous experience with remote Polar Logistics operations is preferred. • Must be willing and able to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods. • Must successfully complete physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. • May be required to successfully complete a psychological examination as required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica. • US citizenship or permanent residence is required.
