Vehicle Mechanic will be based at the US Consulate General in Basrah, Iraq and will be associated with the Site Services section. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing BSH vehicle maintenance requirements. This position reports to the BSH Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. - Develop a comprehensive knowledge of BSH vehicle maintenance requirements for a fleet of vehicles (passenger vehicles, large and small trucks, materials-handling and heavy equipment vehicles, recovery vehicles and special-purpose vehicles). Responsibilities include: - Scheduled safety inspections - Scheduled weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual preventive maintenance - Vehicle oil changes, belt changes, tune-ups, tire rotation and changes, steering system checks, front-end alignments, brake systems, batteries, electrical, air conditioning, etc. - Drive a tow truck - Hazardous materials (HazMat) storage, handling and disposal - Service Desk and work orders - Logistics (including maintaining inventory of spare parts, equipment and consumables), purchase request and warehousing procedures - Vehicle operations - Participate in equipment inventories. - Prepare and submit detailed reports on vehicle maintenance projects for the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor - Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Advanced knowledge of maintenance, supply principals and support systems for material handling and heavy equipment. - Experience in the maintenance of large fleets to include procurement of spare parts. - Knowledge of safety precautions related to maintenance of heavy equipment. - Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. REQUIRED: - Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic must have a minimum of five years’ vehicle maintenance experience in an overseas environment - Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. A vocational diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and ASE type certification is required - Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract - Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills - Citizenship: US Citizenship is not required - Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination DESIRED: - Relevant overseas contract experience - Experience working with PAE OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Skill in organizational practices - Vehicle operation and vehicle safety - Basic arithmetic and computer usage - Skill in problem solving and prioritizing - Ability to effectively communicate - Works well under pressure and in a demanding working schedule - Continuous, concentrated mental and visual effort to plan and perform complex work - Knowledge of PAE rules and regulations as they apply to Motor Pool operations, capability to work with a team, ability to work with Motor Pool customers effectively and politely as well as handle emergency situations effectively PAE is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and Drug-Free Workplace
