Your tasks and responsibilities

Performs various duties in rFVIII Media and Fermentation Production. Under general supervision, carries out preparation of media and solutions, operates and monitors fermentation, cell separation, ultrafiltration and other media/fermentation operations. Includes routine equipment cleaning and daily laboratory upkeep. Execute duties in strict compliance with cGMP.

Prepares media and fermentation equipment. · Dispense chemicals and formulates solutions. · Operates media and fermentation systems. · Sample media and fermentation systems. · Monitors and controls operation with computer control systems. · Performs aseptic operations. · Prepares acids and bases. . · Prepares media and solutions for use in fermentation. · Processes fermentation harvest to cell separation and ultrafiltration. · Blast freezes ultrafiltered material. · Stores ultrafiltered material in cold room. · Performs all operations in compliance with cGMP. · Cleans media and fermenation equipment, and maintains clean and orderly production facilities. · Operates Autoclaves.

Who you are

Requires two years college physical and/or biological science coursework, i.e., chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, physics, physiology, etc. Relevant equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of some or all of the educational requirements. Must be able to cope with fast paced operations and repeatedly perform multi-step simultaneous operations with high degree of accuracy. Must follow Job Safety and cGMP operations and compliance requirements. Must have acceptable attendance and performance. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English in order to understand written and verbal instructions, SOP’s, BPR’s, etc. Media Preparation, Fermentation, Cell Separation-Ultrafiltration, and aseptic process experience desired. Must be able to work under BC III (Class 100,000) gowning conditions. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime. Days and hours are subject to change based on changing production needs. Physical Qualifications: Blood test for Hepatitis B and immunizations required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., lift 40 lbs. overhead, climb ladders/stairs, climb ladders/stairs carrying 50 lbs., push/pull up to 400 lbs. with assistance must be able to push/pull up to 1,400 lbs of material in containers on wheels on level ground. Must be able to stoop/bend/reach/crawl in confined areas, and withstand repetitive motion. Must be able to work in cold rooms. Must be able to read, and manually enter electronically recorded data accurately. Must be able to differentiate color in order to monitor DCS computer and identify items using color-coded labels. Must be able to wear appropriate gowning as required. Must be able to use required chemicals and wear protective gowning as required. Machines, Tools and Materials Used: Standard mechanical tools, e.g., screw drivers, and wrenches. Fermenters, cell separation, and ultrafiltration equipment. Mixing tanks, filters, filter integrity tester, Taylor MOD 300 Automatic Process Control System, in-line flow meters, pH meters, gas analyzers, chloride analyzers, microscopes, spectrophotometers, conductivity meters, osmometer, metric scales, complex SIP/CIP systems, complex interlocking CIP systems, steam autoclave, forklift, other process and laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Fermentation medium ingredients, HWFI, phosphoric acid, caustic soda, sodium · Perform other duties as assigned.
