Department Description: nullJob Location: Boston, MAReq ID: 18398BRJob Summary: Perform the end-to-end cycle for special orthopedic implant equipment required on a daily basis.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure receipt of equipment on or before the day prior to surgery. Facilitate the movement of equipment throughout the MC. Scan equipment into Censitrac. Coordinate the transport and drop-off of equipment. Perform follow-up and expediting activities to ensure delivery requirements. Reconciles order receipt.

  • Communicate equipment and instrument orders to vendors. Confirm all vendor requests one week prior to scheduled surgery and verify expected delivery two days prior. Ensure that all equipment arrives 2 days prior to surgery. Follows up with vendor for any missing items.

  • Maintain inventory. Assist with daily cycle count process to minimize inventory loss and unnecessary expense. Ensures that consignment kits are complete and works with buyers to re-order missing components.

  • Ensures that products are returned in a timely fashion post surgery. Perform post-procedure inventory and reconciliation of equipment prior to returning to vendor.

  • Determine equipment to be ordered. Obtain booking sheets from physician offices on a daily basis. Reconcile sheets with Schedule and Clinical Advisors. Review and categorize critical needs. Notify CPD and Clinical Advisors on status of all pending orders.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.


  • 1-3 years related work experience required.

  • Experience working with and understanding the work flow of CPD and the OR.

  • Surgical Technologist or Certification in Central Processing.

  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.


  • Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.

  • Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

  • Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.
