Department Description: The DBA team within IS manages SQL, Oracle and Business Intelligence infrastructure, ensures maximum uptime for databases and disaster recovery. They are responsible for establishing database security standards, maintaining documentation, and assisting in the development and implementation of best practices for the management of databases. The team works with business, leadership, teams and partners to identify needs, define strategy, and guide the delivery of new technologies.
We are seeking strong candidates with SQL/Oracle database experience and a preference for Business Intelligence and Big Data experience as well.Job Location: Boston, MAReq ID: 15215BRJob Summary: Oversee the overall management of an IS team(s). Manage the teams with contributions from functional/customer staff, technical support groups and informatics professionals toward goal of delivering and supporting systems in a timely, cost-effective and responsive manner.
Department Specific Job Responsibilities:
Organize and manage the integration work team responsible for managing data interchange between departmental systems, core applications and databases and external sources; manage the Microsoft and Oracle database technologies; responsible for the rationalization of data constructs as well as the transaction activities. Support both strategic projects and ongoing production systems.
Assure that data models introduced to the organization through interchange with external sources, new applications and databases is consistent with and integratable with the enterprise data model. Manage and monitor the quality and use of enterprise data elements, strategies for coordination of same across a disparate systems and organizational environment.
Provide report production services to users along with developing a broad base of knowledgeable users capable of using manageable tools for self-investigation.
Responsible for database management, data integration across the enterprise, database high availability and disaster recovery, and the appropriate use and dissemination of information of decision making.
Interacts with all levels of the user community, including senior management and medical staff, and is responsible for knowledge of operational policies and procedures.
Operationalizes strategies and goals into programs and plans.
Manage complex projects requiring significant planning, technical expertise, change management and manage multiple tasks related to mature technologies and applications requiring normal year-to-year-maintenance; contributes advice for group "vision"
Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of established IS policies and procedures and to effectively translate operational plans into methods and processes to be used in the delivery of services, technology planning and support to customers and employees.
Develop operational and service levels and set reasonable expectations for customers that are based on IT policy; State and Federal requirements; technology or resource limitations; and budgetary constraints.
Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 4-6 Indirect Reports: None
Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology preferred.
5-8 years related work experience required and 3-5 years supervisory/management experience required
8+ years of experience with Relational Database Management Systems including MS SQL and Oracle; migrations and upgrades; performance optimization; in depth understanding of SQL Server and Oracle architecture, tools and security; and experience supporting systems that have high transaction rates and large volumes of data and implementing High Availability / Disaster Recovery
Experience leading a team of Database Administrators and Developers
Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence Technologies
Healthcare experience and knowledge
