Performs all the duties applicable to the ECG Tech role. Types previous day's interpretations from dictation in a timely fashion. Ensures accuracy of spelling and interpretation.
Orders lab supplies as needed maintaining par levels. Performs first line troubleshooting for equipment if Tech is unable to resolve. Examines equipment on floor. Keeps current with technology and fixes equipment within realm of knowledge. Seeks additional guidance from Clinical Manager as needed.
Oversees pre-op telephoning to lab. Assists other staff with telephoning if difficulty arises. Handles all QA issues related to pre-op. Keeps Clinical Manager informed of issues. Ensures accuracy of ECG's and checks directories to ensure all pre-op needs are captured.
Assigns appropriate staff in association with physician order. Ensures equal distribution of workload. Rotates assignments throughout the week to alleviate one tech carrying the most difficult area. Oversees completion of assignments.
Acts in leadership role to address minor performance issues related to completion of assignments. Addresses performance issues initially with staff. Involves Clinical Manager if issue remains unresolved.
High School diploma or GED required .
1-3 years related work experience required.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience as EKG Technician with ability to recognize wave forms.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
- Completion of certified ECG technician course including recognition of wave forms and medical terminology.
Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:
