Department Description: Healthcare Associates (HCA) is a robust adult primary care practice.Job Location: Boston, MAReq ID: 17259BRJob Summary: This position is responsible for processing medication renewals according to HCA guidelines. Obtains required clinical information to process and submit prior authorization requests in timely manner. Collaborates with Clinical Pharmacist, providers(MD and NP) and other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient processing of requests or insurance coverage inquiries.
Renews routine/maintenance medication request (phone, fax, Patientsite) for patients. Faxing of non-electronically routable prescriptions.
Assists Clinical Pharmacist, providers and staff with prescription formulary inquiries.
Assists Clinical Pharmacist and providers (MD and/or NP) with prior authorization forms and communicates status updates as appropriate including pertinent information.
Communicates with the provider, patient, or insurance company if there are insurance coverage issues in order to obtain financial resolution.
Performs monthly medication expiration date checks in medication rooms.
High School diploma or GED required.
Registration Registered Pharmacy Tech required., and Certificate 1 Pharm Tech Cert Board required.
1-3 years related work experience required in pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
Knowledge of Prior-authorization workflows, payer relations, prescription claims adjudication, and general reimbursement procedures
Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals (physicians, nurses, administration, etc.)
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
- Experience with Prior Authorizations preferred

Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
