Department Description: nullJob Location: Boston, MAReq ID: 18510BRJob Summary: The Supervisor, Bed Placement reports to the Director of Centralized Services and Throughput. This position is reponsible for the day-to-day operation of the bed placement and PCS staffing. Manages and coordinates on-line scheduling of inpatient admissions and patient care staffing, assuring cost-effective utilization of staff, space, equipment, optimal timing for patients.
Assumes accountability for the efficient, effective function of both bed placement and the PCS staffing office, under the direction of the Director. Assures appropriate allocation of personnel to essential tasks. Organizes, overseas work schedule for optimal; utilization of staff.
Assures data accuracy through collection, interpretation, and integration of data essential for efficient, effective scheduling in all patient care areas. Monitors reports to ensure that patients are admitted appropriately. Periodically monitors records for data accuracy, provides feedback to staff.
Initiates and maintains effective, ongoing communication regarding staff scheduling within and external to the department. Communicates with each inpatient unit, all procedural areas, and fiscal department to ensure accuracy of information.
Collaborates with varied hospital personnel to design, implement, and evaluate scheduling technology, workflows, and outcome measures. Takes independent action for identified problems. Reports trends, patterns, concerns to appropriate nursing leadership staff. Initiates and implements changes in response to identified opportunities for improvements.
Monitors staff utilization and allocation. Collaborates with AF/ACS to ensure all staffing changes are entered in a timely manner. Reviews on-line reports to ensure accuracy. Reconciles staffing for payroll purposes.
Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: None
Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
- Knowledge of fiscal, admitting, pre-procedure testing, and staffing protocols.
Written Communications:Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management and external customers across functional areas.
Oral Communications:Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English and address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate and persuade others.
Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas.
