Department Description: nullJob Location: Boston, MAReq ID: 18459BRJob Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services, the Senior Director for Food and Environmental services is responsible for the overall operations of Food and Environmental Services. Responsibilities include developing and executing operating and capital budgets, developing and maintaining a talented workforce, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and ensuring the highest possible customer satisfaction for patients, family, visitors, and staff.
As the primary representative for Food Svcs & EVS, collaborate with Medical Center leadership and peers in all matters related to EVS and Food Service operations and in order to establish and maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships. Sets and enforces department policies and procedures. Implements LEAN principles as directed by BIDMC management.
Oversees a staff of approximately 550 FTE employees. Directs and supports managers with functional area responsibilities
Acts as a mentor to supervisory staff. Ensures that managers and supervisors are managing employees to bring out their best work, encouraging participation in decision making and identifying areas that need improvement.
Reviews and evaluates existing programs, services, policies and procedures. Recommends and implements new and/or modified programs, services, policies and procedures.
Has full responsibility for planning, monitoring and managing department budgets for multiple departments totaling approximately +$34M.
Has the authority to direct and support managers with functional area responsibilities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: More than 100
Has full responsibility for planning, monitoring and managing budgets for multiple departments.
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
8-10 years related work experience required and 5-8 years supervisory/management experience required
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
