Position Description:

The Systems Engineer position will work with the medical device support platform to lead all activities related to the software platform’s integration with the medical device and cloud based server. Responsible for the successful integration and launch of each software release and all activities required to document use cases, requirements, design documents and root cause analysis. Accountable to the Software Manager for ensuring technical integration, bug fixes and documentation commitments are met and communicated in a timely manner.

Position Responsibilities:

• The system is made of device, client, server

• Responsible for system use cases / requirements / new features / modifications / wireframes

• Participate with Architect to define and document system design

• Participate with Architect and leads to develop prototype / integration

• Provide input and investigation for defects

• Responsible for identifying technical system risks, issues and potential mitigations

• Participate in debugging, modifying and integration testing fixes

• Assist in defining end-to-end system integration testing

• Guide QA team to define/modify test protocols

• Provide technical guidance to remote teams

• Strong ability to resolve design conflicts and provide leadership

• Strong analytical and debugging skills to troubleshoot complex issues

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Perform additional duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

• 8+ years’ experience in embedded system development for medical devices, with expertise in client/server architecture and software development

• Experience with C++, RS232

• Understanding of C#, .Net, JavaScript, HTML, HTTP, DDS

• Experience developing and managing business requirements

• Experience in conducting DFMEA, risk analysis, traceability analysis

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the medical device industry and supporting product development projects in an FDA regulated industry.

• Ability to work independently; self-directed with self-managed supervisory reviews to ensure tasks align with the overall project strategy.

• Ability to work in teams comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Software Development and Testing, Technical Communications, Marketing Communications, and Human Factors Engineering.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including planning and organizing work streams, and managing tasks across multiple groups. Strong written communication skills.

• Travel may be 5%
