The primary functions of the OSR are to facilitate and manage all aspects of sponsored research administration including proposal review, award negotiation and financial institutional stewardship for more than $800 million in sponsored awards each year.
The OSR provides complete sponsored project life cycle support (sometimes known as pre-award and post-award services) to faculty and staff. Four functional responsibility areas within the Office of Sponsored Research have the following types of positions: 1.) program administration; 2.) accounting, financial reporting and cash management; 3.) data management reporting and analysis; 4.) financial compliance, effort reporting, cost studies and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
OSR serves as the official institutional signatory for the Chancellor and is responsible for reviewing and authorizing proposal submissions and negotiating and administering awards on behalf of the University. These activities include monitoring institutional compliance for research and training activities, pre-award services, billing and financial reporting, cash management, cost analysis and compliance of research-related activities, verifying technical report and patent and invention report submissions by Principal Investigators, closeout of awards, and the implementation of information technology into research administration activities.
OSR’s centralized administrative functions facilitate the development and implementation of standardized policies and procedures and provide training opportunities to improve University-wide efficiencies and communication in an effort to increase the quality of research administration.
THE OFFICE OF SPONSORED RESEARCH (OSR) IS RECRUITING FOR 2 BUSINESS OFFICER (Sponsored Projects Support Analyst) POSITIONS (20017292 and 20017285). BY APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION, YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR BOTH POSITIONS.
The Sponsored Projects Support Analyst for the Office of Sponsored Research assists with all areas of research administration, but has a larger emphasis on the post-award stage of a sponsored program life cycle.
The Sponsored Projects Support Analyst reviews and performs actions necessary to either resolve issues submitted through the ticketing system from campus or assign the issue to a team member. This position will also be responsible for securing system security access for new OSR employees, and maintaining access as needed (due to role changes, transfers, terminations, etc.). This position will be responsible to resolve customer issues on first contact whenever possible and/or escalate issues to the appropriate teams within OSR.
The Sponsored Projects Support Analyst will monitor and analyze trends to optimize knowledge and support.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Technical and working knowledge of government regulations, cost principles and administrative requirements applicable to contracts and grants, including, but not limited to, FAR, CFR, and other research compliance requirements (e.g. Export Control, Conflict of Interest, Human Subjects, Ethics Training, etc.)
Thorough knowledge of University policies governing the administration of contracts, grants, cooperative agreements and subcontracts.
