Trident Health is a multi-facility health system located in South Carolina's Lowcountry and is part of the national HCA healthcare network. Trident is comprised of two acute care hospitals - Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center - and Moncks Corner Medical Center, which provides outpatient medical services and 24/7 Emergency Services as well as our new freestanding ED facility in Centre Pointe. We are searching for a new System Director of Infection Prevention to assume 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the delivery of quality patient care by the prevention of hospital acquired infections, through staff and patient education, oversight of hospital practices as related to infection prevention and ongoing surveillance.

* Providing leadership and support to the facilities using leadership skills to ensure the best outcomes and high quality, compassionate patient care. * Working with medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively to support the mission, vision and values of the organization. * May include direct supervision of students, requiring the employee to have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student.



1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of SC or registered as a Medical Technologist. 2. Certification in Infection Control (CIC)


1. Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology 2. Prefer Master's Degree in applicable field


1. Must have a minimum of two years of acute care experience in Infection Prevention and Control (inclusive of surveillance). 2. Minimum of 4 years' experience in acute care nursing or clinical laboratory (microbiology). 3. Supervisory/management experience required, Director level preferred. 4. Computer literacy - able to work with Microsoft office to include Word and Excel.


1. Satisfactorily completes yearly evaluations based on jobs, responsibilities and obtaining goals 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal and external customer.


1. Must remain familiar with current regulatory, accreditation and professional agencies with regard to Infection Control and Prevention. 2. Must maintain membership in Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). 3. Must have working knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease as it applied to infection control. 4. Must be computer literate and able to produce reports using basic computer programs. 5. Must have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of healthcare personnel. 6. Must be able to envision and implement effective strategies for the cost-effective prevention of transmissible infections. 7. Must provide guidance and oversight in teh health system's practices for sterilization, sanitation and disinfection. 8. Leadership in Administration. 9. Principles of effective teaching and learning. 10. Fiscal management. 11. Effective interpersonal relationships and communication.
