Calumet Medical Center is looking for a Part Time cook!

Summary: Prepares and cooks foods for patients, staff, visitors, home meals, and events. Performs various duties within Nutritional Services Department, including customer service to the dining room, dishwashing and cleaning. Works with the department manager/dietitian to monitor and evaluate food quality and to recommend menu items. Provides supervision to the Nutritional Service Aides.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews calendars and menus to estimate food production needs. Prepares food according to daily production orders for Nutritional Service customers. Follows work schedule, practices good time management, and consistently has food prepared on time. Follows department recipes to produce appropriate quality and quantity of product, providing suggestions to modify recipes for improvement. Checks taste and temperature of foods before serving (taste-tests) as indicated. Follows HCAAP guidelines for han Serves on tray line, and properly stores leftover food. Performs cleaning tasks according to schedules and maintains a clean work area. Washes pots and pans, and uses dishwashing equipment safely, if so assigned. Implements special diet modification according to Nutrition Services approved diet manual. Assists with the documentation and implementation of patient food preferences/intolerances (through order-entry computer program) and printing of tray labels, if s Assists with special orders and hospital functions, if so assigned. Assists with additional baking needs to maintain an adequate baked goods supply for use with all Nutrition Services customers. Assists with restocking vending machine, if so assigned. Assists with stocking (unpacking) food and supplies, if so assigned. Restocks refrigerator/kitchen supplies (nutrition related) for inpatient area. Provides assistance in serving cafeteria customers. Assists with delivery and collection of inpatient food carts, if so assigned. Follows hospital and department policies and procedures for infection control, and for chemical and fire safety. Qualifications: Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience cooking for groups.

Preferred: Coursework in cooking/food preparation and food safety. Previous work experience in a restaurant, school, nursing home or hospital. Job: Nutrition Services
