The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions as a member of the nursing and treatment teams in planning and implementing a full range of practical nursing care for veterans and is directly responsible to the Unit Manager for Mental Health Service. He/she provides complex age-specific and population-specific nursing care for adult and geriatric inpatients or outpatients with physical, mental, behavioral or psychosocial needs, according to assignment and training. Performance of duties requires exceptional knowledge, experience and skill for concentrated effort and self-motivation to carry out patient care assignments which involve performing non-standard and specialized practical nursing activities for patient with psychiatric, medical or geriatric patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION* :* Applicants must possess a current, active, unrestricted practical or vocational nurse State license. For GS-3: Licensure requirements must be met, GS-4: six (6) months of nursing experience is required, GS-5 and above: one (1) year of nursing experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level is required.
