WTP Operator

Job Description: The Water Treatment Operator will operate all water treatment processes and equipment; collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses as required for process control and permit compliance. Ability to perform routine maintenance functions and custodial duties desired. Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the operation and maintenance of public water supplies under the guidance and supervision of the Plant Supervisor. This is skilled work requiring the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Operates, lubricates, and adjusts machinery; Performs routine preventative maintenance of equipment. Starts and stops machinery and pumps, operates valves and hydrants, observes operation of equipment, and logs flow recordings. Investigates and resolves basic abnormal conditions. Adds chemicals according to prescribed standards; keeps a daily inventory of chemicals used. Keeps daily log of operations; reads gauges and meters; transmits information to report logs. Draws samples of water for laboratory testing and analysis. Makes basic repairs to pumps, purification equipment, and other machinery. Performs basic routine chemical analyses of water. Performs routine building and grounds maintenance. Investigates customer complaints and alarm conditions. Uses hand tools to make repairs and to perform building and grounds maintenance.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Must be a high school graduate or GED.

  • Valid driver's license with safe driving record.

  • Possess minimum of state of Colorado Class D Water Operator or obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Shift could change based upon needs.

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check. May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including successfully completing a thorough background investigation. For positions requiring use of a Company and/or Customer vehicle, must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy.
