Fresenius Medical Center Test Engineer I in Concord, California
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Conducts research, perform laboratory validation and verification tests, develops requirement documentation, and develops new test equipment and methods for innovative products used by patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Designs and develops new software and hardware, or modifies existing product to meet the company’s needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under close supervision, utilizes established procedures to perform unstructured testing.
Participates in all phases of the development cycle including fabrication, processing, verification and validation testing.
Understands the goals and content of projects.
Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments. Specific equipment familiarity depends on technical scope of position.
Records test results on standardized forms and writes engineering test reports describing procedures used.
Prepares graphs and charts. Summarizes results from multiple experiments into engineering reports.
Participates in cross-functional teams on new product development and manufacturing problem-solving efforts.
Understands the theory behind all instrumentation and maintain proficiency in instrument operation.
Maintains general housekeeping of working area and plant. Ensures housekeeping practices are in compliance with FDA and ISO standards. Assures compliance to corporate policies and local standard operation procedures as well as domestic and international standards.
Performs test and equipment validations. Develops and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Test Methods (TM's) and working practices.
Regular attendance and maintaining a good attendance record is an essential function of the job.
Tests and troubleshoot electronic circuitry and hydraulic systems.
Works with other engineers and technicians with assembly, prototyping, bread boarding, testing, and analysis.
Works with other engineers in testing and debugging final products.
Develops and performs hardware and software test procedures.
Writes system requirement documents.
Develops new processes and methods.
May refer to senior staff, if applicable, for assistance with day-to-day problems that may arise.
Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree required
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
0 – 2 years’ related experience.
Ability to work independently for much of testing development process.
Must become familiar with FDA/ISO Design Control concepts.
Must become proficient in performing all current test methods.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to comprehend and apply principals of advance math.
Ability to apply logical and scientific critical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
