If transcripts are required and are not attachedto your profile, please forward copies of original transcripts with a Registrar's signature and/or seal, to the HumanResources office listed below referencing the Job Id you have applied to.State of New Hampshire Job PostingDepartment of Environmental ServicesCommissioner's Office/ New Hampshire Geological Survey29 Hazen Drive, Concord NH 03301Hydrogeologist II /Project HydrogeologistLabor Grade 23Position#43497The State of New Hampshire, Department of Environmental Services, Commissioner's Office , NewHampshire Geological Survey has a full time vacancy for Hydrogeologist II /Project Hydrogeologist.Summary: To supervise data collection and to analyze and interpret hydrologic and geologic data insupport of geologic mapping, resource investigations, management programs and special projects.Responsibilities:Maintains and enhances the NH implementation of the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) andWatershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) in fulfillment of responsibilities of the NH Geological Survey forthe state.Designs and implements research initiatives to characterize hydrologic pathways, watershedprocesses and functions, and surficial geology using geographic information system (GIS)approaches, field data collection, statistical analysis, and modeling.Supervises program staff engaged in the collection of hydrologic and geologic data in the field andrecommends field methods and quality control procedures.Conducts field inventories and surveys in support of the surficial geologic mapping program usingglobal positioning satellite technology and precision measurement instruments. Applies new GISdata and analysis to geologic mapping and other activities related to NHGS program objectives.Prepares technical reports summarizing the results of hydrogeologic and surficial geologic mappinginvestigations and related projects.Assists senior staff with preparation and submission of external funding proposals to advanceresearch and program objectives of NHGS.Produces maps and graphical demonstration and visualization products in support of the educationand outreach mission of NHGS. Communicates with local watershed groups and other nongovernmentalorganizations, state and federal agencies, and the private sector to solicit localknowledge and acquire data about the state's hydrography, geology, and related features.Identifies and accesses new spatial data resources and spatial analysis techniques in order to insureaccurate vertical integration of NHD and WBD and uses established tools in a GIS to correctdeficiencies and inaccuracies.Continually seeks to improve practices to add quality and value in support of the Department'smission while identifying and eliminating unnecessary or redundant actions in the NH GeologicalSurvey.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in forestry,geology, hydrogeology or a related water resources or earth science degree.
