  • Design power distribution facility line extensions and service drops for new customers, existing customer upgrades and power system improvements.
  • Interfaces with electrical utility customers in regard to SCIP policy including dispute/conflict resolution.
  • Provide utility designs relative to the customers electric service requirements.
  • Prepares complete and accurate job design/work order packets which includes cost estimates, design drawings, bills of material and all necessary documentation required for the construction of a project in accordance with SCIP and industry standards.
  • Facilitates meetings or communication between the customer, Systems Engineering, Construction, or other internal SCIP groups to aid in the development of the project scope and schedule.
  • Oversees construction projects from conception to completion, provides support and coordination to both customer and SCIP crews.
  • Initiates required actions in regard to right-of-way permits for customer service projects.
  • Ensure that information is submitted to Archeological/Environmental personnel who must provide proper clearances prior to construction.
  • Other duties as assigned may be used for tasks that are incidental or temporary in nature.

Specialized Experience:

Specialize Experience at a GS-11 includes: Technical work in: drafting, surveying, construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or developmental work on devices fabricated.

Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professions Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.

GS-11*: *1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level.

NOTE: If you are not in the series for which applying, your application package must show evidence of meeting the OPM Qualification Standards; i.e., required course work (transcript/listing of courses); specialized experience; etc.

**Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience regardless of whether compensation was received or whether the experience was gained in a part-time or full-time occupation. Full-time work is generally considered to be 35 to 40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts with your name, school name, credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. If transcripts are not included in your application package, education will not be credited. Transcripts do not need to be official but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify then you will need to provide official transcripts before you enter on duty.

Evaluation of Foreign Education: Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.

Conditions of Employment
