Position Description:

CGI is currently hiring multiple Senior Lease Analysts for our Oil and Gas practice in Dallas, Texas. To qualify for this role, candidates must have 10+ years’ of relevant experience as a Lease Analyst and candidates MUST also have experience working on projects/assignments that involve Barnett Shale in Texas to be qualified for the role. As a Sr. Lease Analyst on our team, you will be responsible for the analysis, set-up, and updates for leases, contracts, agreements, rights-of-ways, farm-outs/farm-ins, joint operating agreements, and other land documents.


  • Reviewing ownership data and titles

  • Responsible for obtaining the necessary information for lease and contract set-up in a commercial land software package/system similar to or including Horizon, LANDMan, PetroComp or other competing products.

  • Monitoring lease and contract obligations and works with the Landman and Senior Lease Analysts to obtain proper authorization for payment and/or action.

  • Updating land system software to reflect on-going assignments or conveyances.

  • Maintaining leases and contracts with changes in lease status.

  • Working closely with GIS Analyst to review, document, and resolve tract issues.

  • Working closely with Division Order Analysts and Landman counterparts on identifying leases and contracts in wells and units.

  • Working closely with other Analyst and/or Landman on title issues.

  • May assist in preparing necessary documents to perfect title, as needed or required

  • Researching, analyzing, and maintaining leases, lands, and contracts to ensure consistent reporting data and accurate maps.

  • Assisting other Senior Analysts, and acting as a team supervisor and/or group manager on special projects as needed.

  • Handling moderately complex projects.

  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

  • Performing acquisition and disposition due diligence as needed.

  • Creation of standard forms and policies and procedures.

  • Producing reports including ad hoc and / or custom reports and performs analyses (including financial) as required.

  • Responsible for efficient resource allocation and implementation

  • Ensuring timely entry of all data and submission of reports

  • Maintaining working lease files and ensuring that all files are updated and complete and follow corporate standards for records retention

Required Skills:

  • Ability to interpret complex commercial lease language

  • Extensive knowledge of Barnett Shale lease agreements in Texas

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Superior attention to detail, ability to identify and resolve potential conflicts

  • Desire to learn and grow

  • Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners

  • Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure and effectively manage time and workload

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat with capability to master company specific land software programs, and proficiency with interned based research

  • ArcView experience is a plus!

  • Preference (but not required) for candidates with exposure/experience using Horizon, LANDMan, PetroComp, or another industry standard lease administration software package.

  • Preference (but not required) for candidates with report building experience or experience using SQL/Oracle

  • Ability to work and commute 5 days a week in an on-site work environment with regular hours. Overtime may be needed or required occasionally with prior approval.

  • A four year Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, MIS, or Business Administration, or other related business degree
