This announcement establishes a standing register of eligible applicants to be considered for permanent full-time appointments. The first list of eligible applicants will be pulled for referral on 11:59 PM (EST) August 19, 2016 and then again every Friday at 11:59 PM (EST) until the closing date of Saturday, December 31, 2016. All applicants may receive consideration for one year from the date of application.
The Primary Care Physician will provide outpatient primary care treatment to Veterans with acute and chronic illness, with emphasis on preventative medicine. Evaluation and assessment of patients followed by evidence based treatment of patient's health care needs, in a Veteran centric, team-based model of care deliver. Routine coordination and collaboration with specialty care, mental health, and other team members, is considered an essential component of this position in order to ensure optimum patient health and delivery of efficient care. Duties of the position include; but are not limited to:
Diagnose, treat and manage a panel of patients. Identify acute/non-acute, chronic health problems. Use principles of risk management to identify system issues which impact patient care. Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic tests. Adhere to clinical practice guidelines for patient chronic diseases. Conduct appropriate preventive screens and diagnostic tests. Inform Veterans in order to accomplish share-decision making in medical treatment/regimes. Provide appropriate disposition of identified health care problems. Participate in Primary Care multidisciplinary activities. Demonstrate medical expertise in diagnosing and treating multi-symptomatic patients. Adhere to local policies, procedures and directives related to timeliness of documentation and encounters for verification of patient visits, findings and medical recommendations in the electronic medical record. Provide quality patient care to Veterans.

a. *Citizenship*. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)
b. *Education*. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.
c. *Licensure and Registration.*
d. *English Language Proficiency.* Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Note: Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification before the starting date of the position. The BLS requirement is satisfied by successfully completing an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Course or Military Training Network (MTN). Physical Requirements: The work requires exertions such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, and carrying light items in the direct care of patients.
