Under the supervision of the Regional Sales Manager, the Sr. Sales Engineer is responsible for meeting and exceeding the annual Account Management Team (AMT) bookings quota within the assigned sales territory. Also responsible, through efforts coordinated with the AMT, to perform all necessary and defined actions required to maintain, as it relates to sales and sales support measures, a 90% customer satisfaction rating. Sr. Sales Engineer is also responsible for maintaining and reinforcing the position of the North American sales organization as a world-class organization. This position will be based in the Metro Detroit area and overnight travel is estimated to be approximately 50%.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
With the help of the Regional Sales Manager develops and executes a territory management plan that ensures bookings plans for AMT are met or exceeded.
Using IFS CRM, regularly updates forecast, sales visit and customer detail information.
Develops technical competence for Instron’s overall product and application range sufficient to ensure the proper order configuration to meet customer needs.
Provides field feedback of competitive information.
Uses all territory management tools including IFS CRM software, QuoteWerks, and MS Office.
Provides leadership in working with those within the regional support team and AMT to ensure common team goals are met including those on customer satisfaction.
Job (Knowledge, Skills & Talent) Requirements:
Must have verbal, quantitative, technical, and interpersonal skills typically acquired through completion of a technical Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in mechanical, electrical or material science engineering or physics.
A minimum of 3-5 years successful sales experience in capital equipment sales, preferably with material testing equipment. Experience should also include direct sales to government, universities, and industry.
The ability to understand customer needs and identify appropriate solutions for them.
Good skills in standard Office computer software, sales force automation software with a preference for IFS CRM software and QuoteWerks.
