Position Description:

CGI Federal is currently looking for a Network Engineer with F5 Load Balancing experience to support upcoming work for our EPA customer in Durham, NC.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, test, install, upgrade/change, and maintain data center and wide area network infrastructures including routers, switches, WAN acceleration devices, and other network equipment

• Perform network analysis and diagnostics using network sniffers, NetFlow, and SNMP

• Support Domain Name Services (DNS), IP Address Management (IPAM), and Network Access Control (NAC) platforms.

• Respond to incidents and outages as needed

• Build and support lab/staging environments

• Coordinate closely and assist other task orders as required, especially with network operations and security teams and managed service providers

• Produce documentation, including diagrams, procedures, recommendations, problem root cause analysis, reports, inventories, and audit response

• Identify and recommend hardware, software, supplies, maintenance, and other infrastructure services for procurement.

• Manage routers, switches, telecom servers/appliances, and telecom equipment

• Perform network infrastructure design, installation, upgrades/changes, reporting, and O&M activities

• Provide customer coordination for maintenance activities, including procurement of hardware, software, supplies, maintenance, and telecommunications services

• Create documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, recommendations, problem root cause analysis, reports, inventories, and support for response to audits

• Responsible for Domain Name Services, IP registrations and address management, network device access control (TACACS+), WAN monitoring and reporting, WAN diagnostics using network sniffers and similar tools, and web proxy, caching, and content filtering

• Close coordination and assistance to the other task orders is required, especially with WAN Security Operations, Internet and managed service providers

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Hold a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar and five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

• Experience with Cisco network technologies

• Subject matter expertise supporting and maintaining F5 Big-IP load balancers

• Working knowledge and experience with networking protocols (EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, STP, VRF, and IPSec)

• Working knowledge of virtualized server and network environments, especially VMware and VirtualBox

• Experience with supporting and maintaining wireless networks

• Strong working knowledge of Cisco product line and operating systems, and experience with industry design best practices.

• Familiarity with large data center network environments and equipment, including but not limited to Cisco 6500 Switches, 7600 Routers, Nexus, and SAN.

• Intermediate knowledge of networking and systems administration; and the ability to troubleshoot problems and/or escalate issues and problems to team manager

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and lead technical projects

• Recommend system resource changes, as needed, and to accommodate future growth

• Follow strict change management procedures

Additional Requirements:

• Occasionally respond to incidents that require physically working on network equipment in the RTP data center, within thirty minutes of the incident.

• Provide 24x7 on call support

• Support non-production activities normally handled during regular business hours

• Work on scheduled off-hours maintenance activities

• Must be able to successfully pass/complete a CGI background check to start employment.

• Must be able to work in the US for an indefinite period of time.

• Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team player.

• Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• Experience with SSH, Visio, Wireshark or other packet capturing tools, EM7 or other SNMP/ICMP network monitoring tools, Solarwinds NCM, Scrutinizer or other NetFlow tools, VitalQIP or other DNS/DHCP/IPAM tools, Cisco WAAS, Cisco ISE, firewalls

• Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP)
