Position Summary

Provides direct patient care to diverse patient population to assist nurses, physicians and other professional staff in providing excellent patient care focused on the needs of the patient.

Position Responsibilities Summary

PATIENT CARE – Provides services such as bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, toileting, skin care, linen and bedding changes. Collects lab specimens and collects and records intake and output. Rounds on patients as directed. Assists with ambulating patients including those with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures. Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation when necessary, and documents vital signs in the electronic medical record.

COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information to ensure patient rights. Responds to patient call lights in a timely fashion and uses communication devices as directed. Provide excellent customer service to patients and/or family. Communicates effectively through electronic devices/systems such as computer, electronic medical record, phone, and pager.

Position Qualifications


Required: High school diploma or equivalent


Required: Less than one year of job-related experience

Preferred: 1-2 years of job-related experience in acute care setting; gen surg/ortho experience preferred


Required: Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) OR nursing student who has completed one semester of medical/surgical clinicals OR EMT-Basic OR EMT-Paramedic License; Current BLS card through American Heart Association
