The CGI Federal legal team aims to work collaboratively with our business clients to help the Company achieve its business objectives while complying with the wide array of laws and regulations affecting our global business. CGI Federal holds contracts with virtually every federal civilian, defense, and intelligence agency and plays a major role in key federal initiatives such as financial management, health care reform, the cloud, cyber-security, and many others.
CGI Federal seeks a seasoned attorney with significant law firm and in-house (either with a company or government) business or legal experience in the federal government contracts sector. This Senior Counsel position will report to CGI Federals Vice President & General Counsel and advise CGI Federals various business units on a broad range of government contracts, commercial, and international matters in a fast-paced and collegial atmosphere.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
In addition to a strong foundation in federal government contracting, the Senior Counsel must have significant experience in or exposure to: (1) data rights and intellectual property matters in the federal marketplace; (2) commercial vendor agreements and end-user license agreements supporting cloud and other IT product and service offerings; (3) commercial items sales under GSA Schedules and GWACs; and (4) international contracts. Strong emphasis is placed on the candidate with a proactive style who applies legal expertise to deliver business solutions in collaboration with fellow attorneys as well as contracts and compliance professionals.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
The successful candidate should have a minimum of six years of substantive experience as an attorney at a law firm and/or in-house counsel at a federal government contractor or agency. While in-house experience is highly-desired, prior law firm experience is required. The successful candidate also should have a demonstrated ability to integrate successfully with and provide strategic counsel to business operations and extensive experience counseling on cradle-to-grave federal, commercial, and international contracting issues. Finally, the successful candidate must qualify as VA Corporate Counsel and have excellent references. In short, CGI Federal seeks a team player with a good bedside manner, a pragmatic and flexible negotiations style, and the ability to represent the Company and complete transactions with minimal oversight in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where issues of first impression often arise.
