The Urologist is a Staff Physician in Surgical Service under the Chief of Surgery at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) Fayetteville, AR. He/she works collaboratively with other health care professionals of the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks to provide quality medical care. He/she must display an exceptional degree of competence in providing healthcare to veterans while performing a wide area of duties.
Duties include day-to-day operations of clinical urology section in collaboration with the Urology Care Team.
- Responsible for the evaluation, treatment and on-going management of urological disease in both a clinical and surgical setting.
- Performs the usual administrative components of patient care management, such as: documentation of progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic medical record, dictation and electronic signature of OP reports, electronic entry and signature of all doctor's orders for outpatients, etc.
- Provides surgical treatment for genitourinary injuries and diseases including major and minor procedures, stone management, consultations for in-patients and outpatients.
- Coordinates and direct work during medical and surgical procedures with nurses, APNs, PAs, medical technicians and other health care providers. Performs other directly related duties as required. Participates in peer review and quality improvement activities to ensure quality of patient care consistent with VA regulations and Joint Commission standards. Meets urology-related documentation requirements set forth by the Joint Commission and VA Standards. Participates in the development and implementation of program planning, objectives, policies and standards essential to delivery of quality urological care. Participates in a shared rotation of night and weekend On-Call coverage.

Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board certified or Board eligible in Urology.
