Scope of work: The CMSG Lead for Microsoft Latin America drives the company’s growth strategy and execution within the region, in partnership with the Area leadership team and the local subsidiary offices. With a solid understanding of the external market, they drive visibility of and urgency in their Subsidiary and Area to ensure Microsoft is ahead of the market and priority competitors. In addition, the CMSG Lead internally drives competitive strategy initiatives and proactive competitive plays to improve Microsoft’s market share position and muscle.

The CMSG Lead utilizes market research, internal insights and direct exposure to customer and partners to develop quality competitive intelligence and identify differentiators and blockers, then takes action to foster a competitive culture and help address market opportunities in the Latin American market.

Main goal: Competing to Win The Future and Growing Market Share is a core imperative at Microsoft. We grow market share through our CMSG Leads by identifying and maintaining our focus on a core set of competitive priorities, executing the SMSG Compete Strategy, and rewarding/recognizing market share growth in the subsidiaries. The CMSG team is focused on identifying emerging threats and opportunities and helping our sales and merketing teams competing effectively across the breadth of our products, technologies, solutions, and services offerings in all customer segments.

Inspiration: The CMSG Lead is the champion for competing to win share in the Latin American market. As Microsoft, the market and the competitive landscape transform, we look to this leader to establish the cross-organizational business practices that allow us to detect competitive trends and market opportunities earlier in their respective lifecycles, and respond to them with greater agility, precision, and insight. This leader ensures Microsoft is disruptive, differentiated and acts fast in each competitive scenario, and the differentiated value propositions are localized and articulated in each customer and partner conversation with speed and precision. The CMSG Lead partners with the Area and Subsidiary Leadership Teams, Business Group Leads, and Segment Leadership Teams to proactively define competitive priorities, drive the Area Compete rhythm of the business, growth share through the Share Dashboard and land competitive strategies.

The Impact you'll be making:

Driving Compete Operating Model (70% of time)

  • Lead the compete operating discipline locally to drive share gaining opportunities

  • Develop and articulate local competitive insights with your Area/Sub leadership, and through the WW channels

  • Drive Area Win Room to develop action plans to get in front of competitors and gain deal-level compete intelligence and

  • Inspire and deepen the compete culture

  • Ensure local competitive sales agility through data driven compete motions

Driving Strategic Compete Projects (20% of time)

  • Include but not limited to: Identifying emerging competitive threats and industry inflection points, increasing connections and dialogoutside of Microsoft all to increase competitive insights and drive market share growth. Sharing of local demonstrated best practices to be rolled out worldwide. Incubate local projects to roll out worldwide.

Customer and partner facing (10% of time)

  • Directly engage in competitive situation or around new growth opportunities, supporting the fireld partners and sales teams as strategic advisor and gaining direct market insights

Who we are looking for:


An Experienced Field Sales & Marketing Professional, candidates must have a minimum of 10-15 years of practical experience in marketing and sales roles in the IT industry. B2B experience preferred.

Experience in the Latin American market required; fluency in English, Spanish and / or Portuguese preferred.
