ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: This position is located in the Radiology Department at the Fort Yates Hospital, Ft. Yates, ND. The purpose of this position is to function as supervisor and will supervise 4 Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists at two locations.

  • Plans, implements and directs the Medical Imaging Program.
  • Establishes and maintains the working policies of the department.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective Quality Control, Quality Improvement, Preventative Maintenance and Safety Program.
  • Directs the full range of Medical Imaging Services from a technical, as well as administrative point of view.
  • Is responsible as the radiology computer expert for the MS Medical Imaging software for the RPMS System.
  • Maintains liaison with all clinical departments, directs patient care and administration in order to assure smooth and cooperative functioning of the patient-care team.

Individual Occupational Requirements: NOTE: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (l) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements: (1) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others. (2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency. All applicants, however, must meet the requirements below: GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Examples of Specialized Experience:

  • Experience is examining and performing complex radiologic examinations and the appropriate way to photograph injuries, medical situations.
  • Experience in coordinating the operating and the operation of ancillary equipment.
  • Experience in the operation of basic x-ray equipment; and experience in using basic mathematical formula to calculate technical factors for non-standard position and equipment set up.
  • Experience in increasing the quality of work performed by a radiology department and finding ways to improve the quality of work.
  • Experience in developing short and long term goals for the radiology department.

Supervisory Position: Experience leader or Supervisor, a Diagnostic Radiology Department by assigning and evaluating work. Experience evaluating performance, conduct, and creative work schedules. Experience in identifying developmental and training need of employees.
