Job Description

The CIED Assessments Researcher is expected to bring his/her research skills and professional experiences to bear on Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Training.

Additionally, given the complex nature of the work environment and need for frequent interaction with outside customers and functional peer groups, the ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal communication skills and can work well with not only PAE teammates but also other contractors and the customer as well.


To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • 10 years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Lead

  • 4 years of experience conducting research to answer complex problems

  • Required skills include the ability to design and apply quantitative and qualitative research methods to real-world, operational problem sets and challenges; the ability to apply objective, structured analytic techniques to a range of complex scenarios; summarize, synthesize, interpret, and analyze multi-source data (structured and unstructured) as part of the analytic process.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and the ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences

  • Adequate knowledge of research design with experience developing research programs to address complex problems

  • Proven experience in designing multiple training events in a corporate setting

  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles

  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • Have or be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration

  • Bachelor’s degree within a field requiring in depth understanding of quantitative and qualitative research techniques.

  • Familiarity with python and ORA.

  • Familiarity with Nested Models, Mills Methods, and Analytic Narratives

  • Experience using ArcGIS and leading technical discussions related to mapping key data points during the customer’s project research is likewise desirable.

  • Experience/qualifications in comparative political analysis or other aspects of political and social sciences to complement his/her quantitative skills.

  • Familiarity with tools for geospatial, link analysis, collaboration, and entity extraction or text discovery is beneficial.

  • Proven ability to master the full training cycle
