Midwestern University Research Administrator - AZ - Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in Glendale, Arizona
The Research Administrator will enhance productivity of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and is a full time position available on Midwestern University’s Glendale, AZ campus. The position will assist with federal regulation compliance, and will serve as an administrator for the university’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), Radiation Safety, and Biosafety committees. This position will report to the Assistant Director of ORSP and will be expected to work closely with institutional committee chairs and the Director of ORSP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating IACUC, IRB, Biosafety and Radiation Safety Meetings.
Organizing IACUC, IRB, Biosafety and Radiation Safety Meeting Agendas; Writing Meeting Minutes, Sending Meeting Requests, and preparing meeting documents.
Ideally, this individual will be qualified to perform an initial review of IRB and IACUC protocols and able to serve as a liaison for meeting basic IRB and IACUC compliance requirements
Organizing, filing, and tracking new and annual review dates for all research protocols submitted to the IRB and IACUC.
Tracking all training documentation for the IRB, IACUC, Biosafety, and Radiation Safety Committees.
Accepting and Processing Student Research Elective Forms for each academic quarter (CLMD 1301).
Help ensure that the Human Subjects Protection Program, Animal Protection Program and Animal Facility, as well as the Radiation Safety and Biosafety Committees have adequate resources to perform the functions assigned to them through all relevant federal, state, local, and university regulations and policies; Work with the ORSP Assistant Director in any situation where adequate resources are not available.
Assist the ORSP Assistant Director and Director to maintain appropriate licenses, assurances, regulations, and guidelines to meet various requirements for NIH, NSF, OSHA, ARRA, OLAW, AAALAC, EPA, ORI, etc.
Assist with development and implementation of the best service-oriented manner to incorporate compliance-related activities at MWU’s Glendale campus.
Assist with other research-related assignments, as instructed by the ORSP Assistant Director or Director.
Organize Research Day for the Glendale, Arizona Campus and assist with Research Day for the Downers Grove Illinois campus (as needed).
Perform work directly related to university policies or general business operations – administrative functions (ordering gases/coordinating delivery, ordering laboratory safety-related supplies, etc.)
Other duties may be assigned.

*Education and/or Experience *
A Bachelor’s degree is required plus a minimum of 3 years previous experience in research administration and regulatory compliance.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Intermediate skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
