Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc Development Intern in Greendale, Wisconsin
The Development Intern will gain an overall understanding of and experience with development fundraising for a non-profit organization and how grants, direct mail, marketing, major gifts/planned gifts, and stewardship make up the revenue mix.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES: The Development Intern will become familiar with restricted and unrestricted grant requests including corporate, private, and government grants; grants management process including Raiser’s Edge entering/tracking, and grant reporting functions. In addition, the Intern will work on pursuing and writing success stories for use in development materials; prospect identification and proposal development; database management; and stewardship activities for donors.
Assists the Development staff (Development Administrator, Senior Development Manager, Vice-President of Development/Community Services) with gathering information, prospect research, and writing narratives for grant requests and reports.
Writes copy for development marketing materials such as success stories, grant reports and articles for in-house publications.
Learns how to enter donor information in Raiser’s Edge and assists with generating reports and performing queries to help with implementing dept. strategies.
Becomes familiar with stewardship process and relationship building with grant funders, corporate funders, and private donors.
Helps prepare 2017 common application materials to be used in grant templates for the year.
REQUIREMENTS: Pursuing undergraduate degree in liberal arts, business, or other related major.
