EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION: ServeSafe Certification preferred, but not necessary.


EXPERIENCE: Three years food preparation experience desired. Cold prep, Prep, Cooking, Customer Service desired *An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from patient’s diverse stages of development, i.e. Neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly. 2. Ability to estimate time within a given schedule. 3. Ability to arrange information in a logical sequence. 4. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 5. Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction. 6. Ability to stand up for 100% of the time. 7. Job Description

BASIC PURPOSE: This position is responsible for producing all hot and cold food for the tray line, cafeteria, and special functions.

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES: 1. Prepares food products, according to recipe and production sheets, for the patient tray line and the cafeteria, while following all food handling and physical safety guidelines.

  1. Properly records the information needed to accurately complete production sheets and HACCP logs.

  2. Able to fill out a requisition form for the following day’s production needs.

  3. Able to identify, prepare and serve correct diet specific portions for all age groups, from pediatrics through elderly adults.

  4. Maintain a “clean as you go” policy in respective work areas.

  5. Familiar with chemicals used in department. Demonstrates proper use following safety precautions and practices when using chemicals.

  6. Demonstrates the ability to properly use all equipment used in the production area.

  7. Can safely disassemble, clean, and set up equipment used in production area.

  8. Attends daily production meetings as well as all scheduled meetings for in-services and staff development.
