The Economist India currently has an opportunity for a QA Analyst/Engineer in our Gurgaon office. In this role the QA Analyst/Engineer will be responsible for performing Quality Assurance in the software development process. Duties include planning, developing, integrating, testing, regression testing, and maintenance in support of electronic products. The candidate will also be involved in monitoring and improving the overall quality assurance process ensuring any agreed-upon standards and procedures are followed.
The QA person will create and implement testing plans, templates, cases and suites for websites, electronic products and data production systems. This individual is a key player in the product development process and lifecycle, providing input on the performance of the product based on the application of business logic and rules to ensure their successful implementation.
The role will be based on local hours with some flexibility required to cover day-to-day contact with individuals in the United States.
In this role you would be expected to:
Become well-versed in the internal and external inner workings of our products and how they interact
Understanding and improving the QA processes and procedures by working closely with senior QA staff to meet the business objectives of the organization
Creation and Documentation of solid methodically-based test plans, testing templates, test cases and test suites
Thorough, manual testing and test case writing to support automation
Critical assessment and review of business requirements
Coordination of the testing process with technical, editorial and business personnel
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
To succeed in this role you must have:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
The candidate should have 4+ years of QA and documentation experience
The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of Internet and Intranet environments and have worked with creating and documenting test plans, testing templates, and test cases within these environments
Should be thoroughly versed in software life cycle
The candidate must be able to identify, prioritize and document issues through all phases of the software life cycle ending in customer sign-off and user acceptance
This position requires excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written and the ability to communicate with all levels of employees and external contacts
To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
Must have Bug Tracking software experience
Experience in Agile development process
Experience in manual testing is essential; experience/familiarity with automation testing a plus
Experience with Selenium automation a plus
Experience with cucumber automation and gherkin test case format writing a plus
