National Grid Performance Excellence Specialist in Hicksville, New York

_About the Position:_



Creating value for Customers and the Company by engaging team members and managers in Performance Excellence, building their capability so that we embed and sustain a Performance Excellence culture. To deploy the Performance Excellence way of working in order that teams can continually improve processes and performance in a sustainable way and then ensuring that best practice is standardization across teams.

_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_

  • Accountable for deploying and supporting the business in sustaining Performance Excellence standards into the future.

  • Build sustainable Performance Excellence behaviors and capability required of team members, supervisors, directors and managers through coaching and training up to skilled level across the whole Performance Excellence Practitioner capability framework.

  • Improve processes and team performance during Performance Excellence deployments and subsequent improvements to meet the Continuous Improvement Road map.

  • Support, coach, mentor and train teams to enable continuous improvement of processes and performance post deployment of Performance Excellence.

  • Establish sustainable and effective performance discussions, subsequently monitoring and escalating poor performance.

  • Ensuring the standardization of best practice across teams within their support.

  • Deploy appropriate methodologies to problem solving and supporting teams to solve problems.

  • Ensure the escalation process for problem solving is effective in their area of support.

  • Drive Functional projects, risks, issues and benefits.

  • Share best practice in the wider Performance Excellence community.

  • As required directly accountable for delivery of Practitioner and Operational Leadership training in the classroom and providing inputs into the development of training materials.

  • Ensure process improvement activities align to the requirements of the end to end processes affected.

  • Identify and understand all customer needs/requirements and focusing improvement actions on the processes that are falling short of satisfying these needs/requirements.

_Knowledge & Experience Required:_

  • Degree Level Qualification in a Quality / Audit discipline (desirable)

  • Green Belt in Six Sigma and / or Lean e.g. Level LCS 1a/bc (desirable)

  • Orange Belt in Facilitative Leadership/Creative Problem Solving (desirable)

  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles and problem solving techniques

  • Knowledge of change and project management approaches

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills

  • Excellent coaching and training skills

  • Strong team working and collaboration skills

  • Strong problem solving ability. Able to identify problems and challenges, analyze root causes and identify, test and implement appropriate solutions

  • Good project management understanding.

  • Must be able to analyze and anticipate sources of risk, assess probability and consequence, plan mitigation and actively manage acceptable levels of risk.

  • Able to identify, justify, optimize and track benefits to meet project and / or strategic aims
