Major Duties:**

The Philadelphia VA Medical Center seeks an experienced Primary Care physician to join a busy group practice at the Victor Saracini/Willow Grove Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Horsham, Pennsylvania. This practice of eight providers serves 10,000 veteran patients, providing primary care, behavioral health, eye care, audiology services and occasional cardiology and podiatry services. The candidate must be board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

The practice is evolving into a patient-centered medical home, with innovations including virtual consultations with remote specialists, group visits, telehealth visits, and secure electronic communication with patients. We are seeking a motivated and energetic practitioner who is looking to join a practice that will represent the cutting edge of primary care moving into the future.

The job is outpatient only, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday and early morning or early evening hours, and very rare telephone calls in the early evening. We provide a generous benefits and compensation package, including ten federal holidays, 401K, malpractice, 26 paid vacation days and sick days.

  1. U. S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  2. Have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting for a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
  3. Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
  4. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year the degree was granted.
  5. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

  6. Must possess and maintain current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

  7. Must be board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

  8. Meet the physical standards outlined in VA Directive and Handbook 5019. This will be evidenced by completion of a pre-employment physical.

  9. As this a direct patient care position, physician selected must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 USC 7402(d) and 7407(d).

  10. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates. The examination will be concerned with the mental and physical ability of teh applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies.
