The dining flow is predictable, so you can focus on helping to create delicious and nutritious meals!

Responsible for the total food service program to provide nutritional meals with variety within a budget. Supervise kitchen, dining room and activities in a hands-on manner. Perform multi-functional duties related to food preparation, purchasing, service, and clean-up. Reports to the Executive Director.


  • Supervise all kitchen and dining room staff.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and assist in the preparation of Belmont Village Senior Living's breakfast, lunch and dinner meals, including baking breads and desserts, and preparing soup for the entire day
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen and dining room environment

    • schedule food production
    • help with set-up, service and clean-up
    • ensure proper storage of kitchen equipment and handling of food to meet health department requirements as well as Belmont Village Senior Living’s Standards of Cleanliness and Sanitation as described in the Policies and Procedures manual
    • coordinate and assign work to employees involved in the food service program
  • Maintain an inventory and requisition food and supplies from approved suppliers

  • Plan weekly chef’s special to utilize foods in the refrigerator and freezer to prevent waste and spoilage
  • Encourage and invite residents to participate in the food service program
  • Select, train, evaluate and counsel all food service staff as needed
  • Build positive employee relations and apply company policy in a fair and consistent manner
  • Follow all policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Actively communicate health and safety information to employees
  • Actively participate in accident, injury and illness prevention activities:

    • Verify that job specific safety procedures are established
    • Train employees in safe work practices
    • Verify that routine inspections are conducted by trained personnel and include job task observations
    • Conduct timely accident investigations
    • Correct hazards and unsafe conditions in a timely manner
  • Communicate health and safety information to employees and facilitate their involvement in health and safety activities

  • Verify the effective and timely training on health and safety activities
  • Reinforce the use of good health and safety practices through positive recognition programs and disciplinary actions.
  • Complete health and safety audit finding closure within 30 days
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Minimum two (2) years managerial or supervisory experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in verbal or written English
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in volume cooking
  • Interest in working with older population
  • Ability to work assigned shifts including morning hours and weekends
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Intermediate skills with PC and software applications

Must successfully complete:

  • TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • State fingerprint and FBI background check
  • Health Screening for this position
  • Basic First Aid training


  • More than five (5) years experience in volume cooking
  • Certificate in food management or equivalent
  • Two plus (2+) years supervisory experience
  • Experience working with senior population
  • Secondary education in Food Management or Culinary Arts


  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs., using proper body mechanics and/ or available equipment
  • Ability to bend or kneel for up to 15 consecutive minutes to perform cleaning tasks in the dining room and kitchen areas
  • Ability to work standing, moving or walking for 3 to 3.75 hours without need to sit down date
