Title: Sr. Planning Manager Location(s): Houston, TX; Hartford, CT; or San Luis Obispo, CA

The Sr. Planning Manager is responsible for all aspects of inventory and supply planning for ITW Global Brands Retail consumer packaged goods business within the Automotive Aftermarket, with a goal of ensuring desired revenue, margin, service, inventory, capacity, and total delivered cost targets are achieved.

This is a highly cross-functional role requiring industry experience, diplomacy, teaching and leadership while overseeing $220M of direct spend. You will lead a team of 3 Demand Planners and 3 Supply Planners.


• Supply Chain lead for overall replenishment and inventory management

• Supply Chain owner for operational communication and relationships both internally and externally

• Identify and assess supply/demand gaps and associated resolutions

• Manage baseline historical-based forecasts for all items including promotional programs directly impacting the replenishment model

• Support a collaborative end-to-end supply chain approach with Sales to maximize value creation with key customers

• Supply Chain Champion to implement process enhancements and new technologies to support supply planning, inventory management, and collaborate with warehouse operations efficiency initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits functional leadership expertise in supply chain processes, tools, and techniques.

  • Contributes to the development of supply chain strategies.

  • Serves as the champion for the expanded use of Technology in Planning and Materials Management

  • Leads continual optimization of Supply Planning process, involving, for example, a reduction in complexity, optimization of distribution planning and inventory management, customer collaborations and the consistent standardization of operative processes

  • Champion and become expert in ITW proprietary MRD, In-lining and 80/20 methodologies as it applies to best in class operations and supply performance.

  • Development, accuracy, and routine maintenance of all supply planning data including forecasts, inventory, and replenishment schedules

  • Provide KPI’s and master data management for the planning and inventory functions

  • Responsible for inventory management to meet expected fill rate goals while balancing division specific financial metrics through appropriate review of inventory level data using available reports and software tools

  • Support Operations with inventory modeling to improve warehouse efficiencies, manage peak season work flow, or assist in cost projects

  • Assist in future modeling efforts as relates to Distribution Network Optimization

  • Support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process through coordinated discussions with internal stakeholders for initial order placement on innovation items, as well as, product removal at the end of a products useful life

  • Lead operational review in key metric areas (Lead Time, MOQ etc.)

  • Provide Supply Chain perspective into cross-functional teams as relates to new product assessments and start-up timing

  • Provide project management support for supplier transitions, re-imaging efforts by Marketing, new product launches etc.

  • Effectively leads and develops talent by role modeling and reinforcing enterprise talent management philosophy emphasizing development and differentiated rewards.


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field required

  • 8 to 10 years related experience (Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Care, Operations).

  • 3 to 5 years’ replenishment planning experience for consumer products business

  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain and Forecasting/Planning Technologies

  • Strong leadership and change management skills

  • Excellent organizational, communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to lead effective meetings

  • Demonstrate Customer Focus

  • Job Location: Houston, TX

  • 20% travel
