The VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV is seeking a full-time BC/BE Hematologist/Oncologist: Responsibilities include coverage of outpatient clinics, inpatient rounds, supervision of inpatient as well as outpatient chemotherapy and infusion procedures; conduct bone marrow aspirates and biopsies and answer inpatient/outpatient consultations.
Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with hematology and oncology diseases according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
Specific services include, but are not limited to, bone marrow biopsy and aspiration and providing medical oversight for the Chemotherapy Infusion Room.
The physician will report to the Chief of Medical Service or his/her designee.
The incumbent shall be expected to cooperate with, and participate in, medical duties or functions related to quality of care and peer review along with improvement/performance improvement activities at the direction of the Chief of Medical Service.

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically and mentally perform the duties of staff physician under normal or emergent conditions. Moderate lifting 15-44 lbs and over with assistive devices, heavy carrying of 15-44 lbs and over with assistive devices; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers, both hands required, walking or standing up to 4 hours per day; repeated bending up to 1-2 hours per day; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination; near vision correctable; hearing aid permitted.
