Responsibilities This position is within the Biotechnology Discovery Research group, which is responsible for discovery and optimization of bio-therapeutics from lead generation to preclinical development. We are seeking a motivated associate biologist with expertise in laboratory based molecular and/or cellular immunological methods to provide a deeper understanding of Fc gamma receptor-mediated biological responses and its relevance to mechanism of action of therapeutic antibodies or Fc-fusion proteins. These mechanistic studies will utilize samples from human-derived sources as well as cell lines. The individual should have experience in various bioanalytical techniques (e.g. multiplex cytokine assays, assay development, etc.), human cell manipulation and tissue culture, flow cytometry and molecular techniques such as qPCR. The individual should also be able to work independently as well as be a motivated team player who actively engages in cross-disciplinary efforts across discovery and development.
Some key responsibilities within this role are:
1)In vitro characterization of Fc-mediated effector function response using cellular cytotoxicity assays (ADCC and CDC)
2)Provide expertise in bioanalytical techniques; including immunological assays (e.g., multiplex bead-based ELISAs, ultra-sensitive ELISA systems (e.g., MSD, Quanterix), in vitro functional assays with primary human cells and cell lines, flow cytometry, qPCR and biochemical techniques (western blotting, protein phosphorylation)
3)Isolation and maintenance of primary cells such as NK cells or monocytes from human blood.
4)Work in multifunctional teams
5)Present experimental data at team meetings
6)Maintain high laboratory standards with regard to quality, safety and general laboratory housekeeping
Bachelor Degree in Biological Science or related field with at least 2 years of research experience or
MS degree in Biological Sciences, Immunology or related field is required.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
Hands-on experience in cell-based assays, flow cytometry, Western Blotting, ELISA, qPCR and tissue culture.
Capability of independently designing experiments, generating data, interpreting results and documenting work.
Effective oral and written communication skills, self-management, task planning and organization skills
Additional Information This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.
