Your tasks and responsibilities
Position Purpose: This position reports to the Director of PRO BP Medical Devices and leads a team of five Sourcing Managers (located in Pittsburgh) responsible for managing approximately $150 million EUR external spend in the area of Medical Device Components across Bayer and expanding the focus from Radiology to further divisions by building a truly global reach. Focus is on creating and implementing cross-functional sourcing strategies and Supplier Relationship Management initiatives in order to best manage the external spend, ensure supply, optimize costs and mitigate risks and create value for Bayer through bringing supplier innovation into the company. Facilitate further active stakeholder engagement in order to achieve joint objectives in the above areas. The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Components Sourcing are; • Establish network of internal stakeholders (R&D, Production, Legal, Regulatory and Quality) and build trustful relationships in order to work effectively in cross-functional team and achieve joint sourcing objectives; • Develop and implement cross-functional innovative sourcing category strategies, conduct supplier selection processes based on Bayer’s standard sourcing methodology and using World Class Procurement tools such as eAuctions, Target negotiations, Market Intelligence etc.; • Identify and ensure cross-factual. Requirements are met in areas of quality, assurance of supply, innovation, cost, regulatory sustainability etc.; • Develop and perform targeted supplier management and supplier development for existing supply base based on supplier segmentation principles and in strong team-internal alignment; • Develop an international, optimized supplier base through product and market knowledge, in strong alignment within global PRO BP Medical Devices Team, which is capable to enable innovative and state-of-the-art cooperation in order to develop competitive advantage for Bayer; • Build up and foster strong collaboration with global & local sourcing experts for Medical Devices across countries and divisions and with further synergistic sourcing areas in order to identify & leverage synergies and implement global suppliers & strategies across all relevant divisions of Bayer; • Build up high performing sourcing team, drive people development and increase skills & capabilities through targeted development measures and effective feedback culture. Drive & enable further integration of team into Bayer Procurement organization.
Who you are
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree is required in technical/scientific (engineering, natural sciences, pharmacy, economics). Advanced degree and/or CPM/CPSM certification desirable; • At least 12 years of experience with sound knowledge of Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management & legal requirements, Quality Management Systems, Regulatory Requirements and Supply Chain Processes, Principles and Practices in a global business environment is highly desired. Experience in Medical Devices or related area preferred; • Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, communication and networking skills for external and internal working contacts and relationship management; • Strong negotiating, influencing and problem solving skills. Strong communication and presentation skills across all hierarchy levels of Bayer and external suppliers; • Proven team and/or project leadership skills in a cross functional and international teamwork environment required; • Demonstrated analytical decision making skills and creative thought process ability; • Well versed in computer skills; MS Office with advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel; • Fluent in business and technical English; • Experience in a regulated industry, i.e., FDA, and manufacturing environment preferred.
