FEBR Gates & Barriers Supervisor

The FEBR Gates & Barrier Supervisor is a supervisory position based at Union III in Baghdad, Iraq. The FEBR, Gates & Barriers Supervisor will take ownership of all pedestrian and vehicular gates and barrier control systems and assist on locksmithing operations, which include cypher lock installation and maintenance.. This position reports to the Union III Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.


  • Provide daily work assignments and supervise Gates & Barriers Specialists.

  • Perform gates and barriers services as required below:

  • Inspect, clean, lubricate, and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on the physical security electric and hydraulic pedestrian and vehicular control systems, located at the compound access control (CAC) points.

  • Verify that all gates and barriers are operational and perform maintenance and repairs based on Manufacturer’s requirements and in accordance with the PAE O&M plan.

  • Trouble-shoot problems, utilize test equipment and meters, and assist with installation of new electrical and electro-mechanical devices.

  • Submit reports to the O&M Manager on a scheduled basis.

  • Assist in developing the Statement of Work (SOW) when requested.

  • Report any problems or lack of compliance with the SOW or O&M plan, to the O&M Manager.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections.

  • Maintain the appropriate technical library and record-keeping, which documents all procedures necessary to accomplish assigned responsibilities.

  • Maintain effective, timely, and respectful communication and interaction with other employees and managers, and support other organizations.

  • Perform other administrative tasks including ordering material, inventorying, and scheduling work.

  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data for report preparation and submit written reports.

  • Be responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment, and spare parts.

  • Be able to take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety, and electrical codes.

  • Be able to evaluate operational effectiveness and develop/maintain effective operational control mechanisms.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ general security system maintenance experience with security controls equipment and a minimum of three years’ general security operations and maintenance (O&M) experience in an overseas setting.

  • Knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and accepted trade practices.

  • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards and related safety precautions associated with security gates and barriers systems and equipment.

  • Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.


  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Must have five years general security system maintenance experience with security controls equipment and a minimum of three years’ general security operations and maintenance (O&M) experience. Experience working with cypher locks.

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. Completion of an Apprentice program with a Journeyman Electrician Certificate or an AA/AS trade’s degree from a two year college and/or equivalent field experience is strongly preferred.

  • Licenses: Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record and valid truck driver’s license from Home of Record.

  • Security Vetting: Already possess a DoD or DoS Secret Clearance or be able to obtain a favorable Secret clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.

  • Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills.

  • Citizenship: US Citizenship is required.

  • Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.


  • Previous out of home country experience with a multi-national workforce is highly desirable and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus.

  • Experience working with PAE.

  • Experience working with TSS, cypher locks, and power hanger doors.


  • Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.

  • Experience providing excellent customer services.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

  • Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
