The CLS Specialist will provide direct and inter-active treatment to high acuity individuals in the program. Role models appropriate behavior and teaches life skills to residents. Provides coaching in areas of daily living skills or independent living skills to enhance the resident’s ability to reach his/her highest level of independence. Uses assessment skills and knowledge of each individual’s plan to encourage development of appropriate interaction, anger management, and coping skills. Will also assist leadership in maintaining managerial tasks and will participate in creating and modeling a program mission statement and charter. Summary of Job Functions.1. Engage persons-served in problem solving, skill building training, and side-by-side activities.2. Facilitate and/or monitor in-house and in-community therapeutic and recreational activities.3. Dispense, administer, and monitor medication, via professional order, as directed. Document dispensing and/or administration of medication immediately after the event.4. Conduct the new client orientation.5. Provide community living supports to include, but not limited to: meal preparation, laundry, routine facility care and maintenance, activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, socialization and relationship building, leisure activities, and attendance at medical appointments.6. Provide, as appropriate, personal care services to include, but not limited to: eating/feeding, toileting, transferring, etc.7. Create in clients an awareness of their powers and self-worth, health, home, and community. 8. Document on the progress, or lack of progress, towards goals of persons in crisis at the close of each day.9. Provide supreme customer service, always being courteous, responsive, professional, and helpful to the organization’s internal and external customers.10. Know the contract requirements for your program/service.11. Create welcoming customer service environment.12. Contribute to the security of the facility by helping to monitor the access or visitors.13. Provide and/or assist with transportation, as needed.14. Ensure that the routine/customary daily, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual internal data reports (required from CLS Specialist) are submitted on time.15. Aid in making sure that 100% of contract/grant compliance reporting requirements are completed and submitted by due date.16. Adhere to high levels of health and safety practices.17. Adhere to applicable licensing rules, accreditation standards, Codes of Ethics, and Corporate Compliance, Policies and Procedures, and Employee Manual.18. Attend and actively participate in team staff meetings.19. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Program Manager in an effort to ensure consumer health, safety, and well-being and to promote a customer friendly environment.20. Current Michigan driver’s license with acceptable driving record according to HNBHS corporate policy.21. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.Essential Work Experience.1. Two years or more experience in Crisis Services and/or Behavioral Homes.Essential Job Requirement.1. Personable, positive, and enthusiastic attitude.2. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the use of technological advances that include, but is not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, fax/copy machines, cell phones, etc.7. Ability to answer a business telephone using knowledge of business procedures and etiquette.8. Ability to schedule/plan work in advance, and set effective and realistic timelines and meet goals.9. Knowledge of negotiation and mediation techniques.10. Basic knowledge and skill in simple arithmetic, operating household appliances, basic nutritionEOE AA M/F/Vet/Disability.
Associate degree, certification or higher from an accredited university or institution of higher learning OR 2 years of experience in Crisis or Residential treatment-like environment.
