Elevator Technician [Secret Clearance]
PAE is currently seeking an Elevator Technician to support the US Department of State and will be stationed at Kabul, Afghanistan. The candidate will work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.
The Elevator Technician will:
Test, inspect, repair, maintain and perform minor modifications to Embassy, consulate and TDY house elevators.
Perform preventative maintenance on Embassy elevators in accordance with published schedules, operating procedures and equipment warranties. Comply with all related published directives, standard operating and preventative maintenance procedures.
Receive, accomplish and document all work utilizing the Embassy work order system (GMMS). Provide input to upgrade content and frequency of preventative maintenance tasks.
Perform a wide variety of elevator related routine electrical maintenance and repair functions as required. Conduct tests of equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters and other test equipment considered tools of the trade.
Coordinate and monitor the work for contract elevator services with the DOS Facilities Manager.
Comply with all Environmental, Safety, and Quality Assurance requirements/goals.
Maintain workplace safety program and ensure safety is the highest priority in the work place.
Perform Other duties as assigned.
Be available for afterhours call outs and emergencies.
Be available for periodic travel with extended overnight stays may be required to outlying DOS sites in Afghanistan. Percentage of travel will vary significantly but on average is expected to be less than 10% of the total time.
Work in office and residential facilities with additional duties on and around an active U.S. Embassy and related DOS facilities in Afghanistan including exposure to the dangers inherent with traveling to and working on such sites. This assignment will include work in Cleared Access Area (CAA) facilities.
Work ten hours/day, six days a week minimum; be available for afterhours call outs and emergencies and participates in a duty phone rotation.
The Elevator Technician must have following qualifications and experience to qualify for this position:
A High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of Elevator apprenticeship program with Journeyman certificate is required.
State Elevator Mechanic certification is required.
Training certification from a major elevator manufacturer is preferred
At least 5 years’ Machine Room Less (MRL) journeyman experience in the testing, inspection, repair, servicing and troubleshooting of hydraulic and traction elevators is required.
A working knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and repair micro-processor, solid state electronic controls and drives is required.
Experience must include familiarity with working sketches, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturers operations and maintenance manuals.
Previous overseas experience with a multi-national work force is highly desirable.
Strong background in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting is required.
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Knowledge of Department of State Contracting, safety and construction requirements is highly desirable.
Must have ability to work effectively with multi-cultural workforce.
Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment preferred.
Citizenship: US Citizenship is required for this position.
Clearance: Must have an active Secret security clearance.
Must be willing to travel periodically (with extended overnight stays) as required while working on projects at other locations in Afghanistan.
