Come and be a part of our team with a mission to serve those who have served our country at the Kernersville Health Care Center (HCC), which is a part of the Salisbury VA Medical Center. You will work at the Winston-Salem Outpatient Clinic until arrangements are made to move to the HCC, which is expected to open in spring of 2016. The Kernersville HCC is a modern 275,000 square foot facility. In addition to primary care health services, the following additional services planned: Ambulatory Surgery, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Outpatient Dialysis, Dental Services, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health, Infusion Services, Cardiology, Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization lab, EP Cardiology, Bronchoscopy and Gastroenterology including procedures. Emergency Care and inpatient care is provided at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the VA Medical Center, Salisbury NC is seeking to recruit a part-time jointly appointed staff physician with Wake Forest University with training and expertise in Adult Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
The incumbant is to join a multidisciplinary program providing complex outpatient services as part of a multispecialty environment at the newly opened Kernersville Health Care Center.
Applicants should have leadership skills and motivation to provide oversight of administrative operations, clinical care, and teaching with responsibilities that include the supervision of fellows from Wake Forest University Endocrinology and Diabetes Fellowship Program.
The Division manages patients with complex diseases and actively participates in the management of patients with diabetes on insulin pumps, as well as coordinating the management of thyroid cancer patients with the general surgery department.
The Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism program is highly focused on improving outcomes and strongly encourages collaboration with providers in other departments, especially primary care. Applicant's length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Compensation Board in determining the salary of the applicant selected. Academic appointment will be commensurate with experience.

Basic Requirements: The ideal candidate may be board certified/eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and currently hold an academic appointment.
- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
