It is located on Interstate 85 only 35 miles from the metropolitan area of Charlotte, and 40 miles from Greensboro, and Winston-Salem NC. Salisbury has grown from a small town to a nice small city of 26,548, and is the county seat of Rowan County. It is also the home of three colleges: Catawba College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Livingstone College.
This position is located at our brand new facility, Kernersville Health Care Center (HCC) in Kernersville, NC. This facility is about 300,000 square feet dedicated exclusively to provide outpatient care to our Veterans. Kernersville is about 12 miles east from downtown Winston-Salem, NC and south of Greensboro, NC.

This position is located in the Kernersville Health Care Center, Kernersville, NC. The incumbent will Supervise all psychiatrists and will provide clinical/administrative guidance to other Mental Health disciplines as needed in this outpatient setting. The Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Supervision of Psychiatry staff
General oversight to Advanced Clinical Practitioners within Mental Health service line.
Clinical coverage for the outpatient clinic and inpatient ward (when on call at Salisbury main facility), as necessary.
Advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
To provide psychiatrist and Medical Officer of the Day orientation.
Clinical and administrative coverage for the Mental Health local service line, as needed.
Participation and coordination of Medical Center clinical committees, as required.
Direct supervision of outpatient setting staff (Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Peer Support Specialists, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses) assigned to Mental Health services.
Managing Psychiatry discipline - specific issues/concerns
Work with the other Mental Health supervisors to ensure that appropriate disposition services and meaningful therapeutic treatments are being offered on the psychiatry inpatient service.
Assumes the duties of Mental Health Service Chief in their absence and serves on the management team of the Mental Health Service Line.
Disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.
Review and approval/disapproval of leave requests
Assure that subordinates are trained and fully compliant with the provisions of safety regulations.
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with limited on-call duties require(evenings/weekends), as necessary.

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: At least three years of supervisory experience at the supervisor level capacity employment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
