Led by an Executive Chef, this culinarian will be part of a team responsible for driving fresh, creative and cutting edge meals while playing a vital role in providing a clean and safe environment.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, is responsible for handling, storing, preparing, seasoning and cooking food for patients, employees, guests and visitors. Responsible for food handling in accordance with HACCP and food codes. Maintains proper care and use of equipment and working area. Ensures that Room Service line, Cafeteria, and production areas have needed items by specified time deadlines. Takes food temperatures at each meal and communicates with Supervisor if temperatures are not at an acceptable level. Uses appropriate protective equipment (PPE), as well as food code (Federal, Ohio, local and HACCP) and good sanitation principles when completing tasks. Effectively and efficiently completes assigned cleaning tasks.
Demonstrates the ability to prepare and produce foods for patients, cafeteria, and special functions as assigned, meeting time and meal standards.
Accurately follows recipes in the preparation of food items and ensures quality product outcomes, good appearance, consistent flavor, texture and overall acceptable qualities
Demonstrates competency in the safe use, care, cleaning, and handling of equipment and keeps workstation and area clean and organized. Reports malfunctions to the supervisor
Responsible for the safe handling, storing/labeling, and repurposing of leftover foods. Utilizes or notifies supervisor about products that are close to expiration
Routinely takes active role in evaluating the quality and presentation of prepared food items including leftover foods and recipe testing.
Adheres to HACCP policies and procedures in the handling, preparation, service, storage of foods.
Accurately checks and records temperatures of foods upon cooking and prior to meal service.
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Works with and around equipment that generates heat, steam, cold, etc.
Labels, dates, and stores all food/supply items according to departmental guidelines.
Complies with food laws and utilizes correct sanitizing processes for equipment, materials, and dishcloths.
Follows established workplace safety practices including personal, environmental and chemicals.

High school graduate or GED required. Must be able to read and write English and follow oral and written directions. Minimum one year experience in food preparation and service required.
