Kettering Medical Center TRAUMA REGISTRAR in Kettering, Ohio
Description The Trauma Registrar reports to the Trauma Program Manager. This role is responsible for identification of trauma patients for inclusion in the KMC trauma registry as well as abstraction of all required data fields, critiques and complications with a high degree of accuracy.
Requirements Educational Requirements:
High school graduate required. Degree or education related to HIS, Medical record format and data systems preferred.
Certification: Certification as a CSTR-Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry by the American College of Surgeons after 2 years of hire.
Experience: Certified Coding Specialist preferred with knowledge in registry methodology and reporting, experience in ICD-9 coding, AIS coding OR
Trauma Registrar with minimum of 2 years experience, CSTR, and expertise in ICD-9 and AIS coding and experience in trauma registry reporting.
Proficiency in a word processing program required; Microsoft Word preferred.
Proficiency using computer database programs required; Microsoft Access preferred.
Knowledge and skill in methods of filing and retrieval of information.
Typing skills of 60 wpm required.
Knowledge of rules of grammar and punctuation with spelling skills.
Ability to document minutes of preferred meetings effectively and appropriately.
Ability to plan, initiate responsibilities and follow through with a minimum of direct supervision.
